IMAGE Beyond the Gates of Splendor Beyond the Gates of Splendor is a documentary that tells the story of missionary families (including Jim Elliot and Nate Saint) that went to Ecuador in the 1950s. Five of the missionaries were murdered by the Waodani tribe. Two years after the murders, the wife and sister of two of the murdered missionaries returned to the Waodani tribe and lived with them. Today, the Waodani are a changed people. This is a photo of Nenkiwi, a Waodoni man whose lie led to the murders.
