Highlights from a 2008 Harris Poll nation-wide survey of 2,126 U.S. adults:
- Americans who believe in God: 80 percent (unchanged since the last survey in 2005)
- Americans who believe Jesus is the Son of God: 71 percent
- Americans who believe in the resurrection of Jesus: 70 percent
- Americans who believe in the Virgin Birth: 61 percent
- Americans who believe in the survival of the soul after death: 68 percent
- Americans who believe in heaven: 73 percent
- Americans who believe in hell: 62 percent
- Americans who believe in the Devil: 59 percent
- Americans who believe in miracles: 75 percent
- Americans who believe in angels: 71 percent
- Americans who believe in evolution: 47 percent
- Americans who believe in creationism: 40 percent
- Americans who believe all or most of the Old Testament is the Word of God: 55 percent
- Americans who believe all or most of the New Testament is the Word of God: 54 percent
- Americans who describe themselves as "very religious": 23 percent
- Americans who describe themselves as "somewhat religious": 45 percent
