Egg on His Face

He looked like the consummate professional--young, well-dressed, well-groomed. He exuded intelligence, experience, and confidence. I was standing by the supermarket's dairy case selecting extra-large eggs when I noticed him glancing at a bystander examining eggs, then toward me, then at the open box of eggs in his hand. A tiny crack in his bravado showed when he whispered to me, "What are we looking at?"
