Higher Authorities

My seven-year-old son and I were discussing being obedient to those in authority. When I asked whom he thought was an authority over him, he said, "Well, you and Dad, and my sister Mandi, I guess."

"You're right. Mandi's in authority if she's babysitting you. How about at school?"

"My teacher and the principal and the cemeteries," he said confidently.

It was an unusual answer, but I figured he meant the cemetery near the school. "You mean where dead people are buried?"

"No, Mom, you know--those ladies in the office."
