Yes, I Want to Go to Heaven … Just Not Yet
A Pew forum report asks religious Americans about their views on radical life extension—the near-future possibilities of medically prolonging one's life and quality of health to 120 years and beyond. Only one in three (or 34 percent) evangelical Christians express interest in living beyond what's been considered a normal lifespan. But the same group of participants favors more invasive treatments for cancer and other diseases than their peers who don't identify as evangelical.
Here's the real irony in this report: "… surprisingly, those who believe in life after death are more in favor of delaying the afterlife as long as possible than those who don't believe in life after death—by a 43-percent to 37-percent margin."
Possible Preaching Angle:
Apparently, we don't really believe all that good news about our heavenly home.
