Candy Isn't Bad for You … Says Study Funded By Candy Companies
According to a study funded by the National Confectioners Association, candy-eating really isn't as bad as you've heard. The study claims that candy eating is not linked to obesity, heart disease, or a range of other serious health risks.
According to the report:
Frequency of candy consumption was not associated with the risk of obesity, overweight/obesity, elevated waist circumference, elevated skin fold thickness, blood pressure … cholesterol, triglycerides, or insulin resistance. Increased frequency of candy consumption was associated with higher energy intakes and higher energy adjusted intakes of carbohydrates, total sugars and added sugars … Translated: ‘It's practically good for you.’

Gee, Mr. Wonka, thanks for all the science! The study shows our amazing human power to justify our actions, even stuff that common sense—or God, for that matter—tells us is probably bad for us.
