The Death of the Family Photo Album?
We might be witnessing the mass-extinction of the family photo album. The "selfie"—you know, are those arm's-length snapshots of you making your most effortless attempt to be suave. Here are some interesting selfie stats: 5+ billion snaps are created every day on Snapchat. 92 million selfies are posted on Instagram every day. People spend 54 hours a year (7 minutes a day) taking selfies.
What does that mean? Young people now take more photos of themselves than of their family and friends. It's a self-centered, unconscious inward spiral of image. Christian writer Rachel Marie Stone comments: "There is a double layer of scrutiny that comes with selfies. We play photographer, model, and editor, asking ourselves again and again if we look ok, before inviting feedback from our networks."

Possible Preaching Angle:
There is a time for looking at ourselves, particularly for smiling at a camera with a sunset, castle, or mountain in the background. But let's allow our cameras to look out more than they look in—because the truth is that our hearts follow our lenses.
