Church or CrossFit?
Have you ever thought of the gym as a place for community? Well, it is turning into a better place to gather than the church. Ali Huberlie, a 27-year-old education consultant in Boston, wakes up every morning at 4:45am to go to her CrossFit gym. When she was looking for an apartment, she only looked at apartments close to her gym. Ali says, "CrossFit is family, laughter, love, and community. I can't imagine my life without the people I've met through it."
Possible Preaching Angle:
Isn't that something you would hope to hear about the church, and yet Ali speaks in those same terms about her gym. Greg Glassman, the co-founder of CrossFit says, "We're the stewards of something. We're saving lives, and saving a lot of them. Three hundred fifty thousand Americans are going to die next year from sitting on the couch. That's dangerous. The TV is dangerous. Squatting isn't." Isn't it interesting that a gym understands the importance of saving lives, possibly even better than the church?
