Astronaut Takes on the London Marathon—While Still in Space
Most of us probably consider running a marathon to be an impressive feat. But what about running a marathon in space? A British astronaut on the International Space Station has decided to take on that particular challenge. Timothy Peake, who also happens to be "Britain's first official spaceman," is planning to run the London Marathon from the Space Station's treadmill. He wears a harness to keep his feet on the treadmill in the zero-gravity conditions, and he's feeling confident, hoping to finish the race in under four hours—or, in Space Station terms, about two-and-a-half orbits around the earth. A fellow astronaut on the Station, Jeffrey Williams, has promised to check up on Peake during the race: "We'll check in on him every now and then, and make sure he gets all the food and drink that he needs to make it through it."
Possible Preaching Angle:
In the race of life we all need some good friends to check in on us every now and then. Who are your fellow astronauts?
