The Best of Jobs, the Worst of Jobs
The careers website Glassdoor recently published a list of the "25 Best Jobs in America." At the top was data scientist, followed by tax manager and solutions architect. How did they determine that these were the "best" jobs were, you might ask? Well, according to a write-up about the list in the Washington Post, they looked at factors such as "median salaries, total openings per job category and career growth opportunities." But they did not take one particular factor into consideration: job satisfaction. It was instead based "on the potential for career and earnings growth."
Possible Preaching Angle:
In a similar way we're all asking basic questions about life and work: How do I define what's really "best"? What really matters in my life? What sort of factors am I using to figure out my worth and my identity?
