Police Officer Picks Up the Check
Four Pennsylvania police officers were sitting in a local diner having a meal (just as reference two were white and two were African-American). A male and a female were supposed to be seated next to these four police officers and the male said "I don't want to sit there." The officer, Chuck Thomas, said, "[That comment] drew my attention, and we made eye contact, and his body language just told me that he wanted nothing to do with police. I looked over at him and said, 'You don't have to worry about it. We won't hurt you.' He said, 'No, I'm good. I don't want to sit there.'" Thomas said that this happens to police officers all the time, but because of what happened in Dallas just a day earlier he wanted to reach out to this guy. So Thomas and his fellow officers picked up the $28 tab for the meal and left a kind note.
