Scientists Seeking to Explain Long Neck of Giraffe Still Confused
Researchers from the African Institute of Science and Technology recently sequenced the genome of the giraffe for the first time in their efforts to uncover hints as to the evolutionary development of the animal's long neck. The scientists have been enthusiastic about pinpointing genes that cooperatively regulate the development of both skeletal and cardiovascular systems. They wanted to show that the giraffe's long neck and powerful heart developed hand-in-hand.
The group found the findings significant enough to publish in the academic journal Nature Communications, and yet admit that the question of why giraffes have long necks still remains a mystery. A geneticist at Cambridge University confessed that there is plenty more to be done before the mystery of how the giraffe got its neck is finally solved.
Possible Preaching Angle:
Theology doesn't always work this way, but in cases such as this it can seem to make the most sense to just say, "Because God said so!"
