Rapper Wants to Prove the Earth Is Flat
Remember how we all learned in elementary school that people used to think the world was flat? Well, in case you didn't know: The Flat Earth Society still exists. (And boasts 555 members, according to its website.)
The newest member is rapper B.o.B., who once got into a Twitter feud with physicist Neil deGrasse Tyson over flat-Earth theory and is now on a mission to prove, once and for all, that the earth really is flat—by launching a satellite "as far into space as necessary to 'find the curve' of Earth." He's attempting to pay for the launch with a GoFundMe account, with a goal of $1 million. In its first five days, almost 100 people donated.
GoFundMe isn't so sure about all of this, however: The site "has frozen the rapper's donation account, meaning he won't be able to access the funds unless he can provide more information that the money will not be mismanaged."
Potential Preaching Angles: Thousands of years of scientific progress later, and at least 500 people still believe in a world that's flat—in the (slightly modified) words of Ecclesiastes, "Generations come and generations go, but the [flat] earth [theory] remains forever" (1:4).
