Celebrity Retracts Virus Denial After Son Tests Positive
Former game show host Chuck Woolery recently deactivated his Twitter account after doing a dramatic about-face on a life or death issue. On July 12th, he tweeted the following:
The most outrageous lies are the ones about COVID-19. Everyone is lying. The CDC, Media, Democrats, our Doctors, not all but most, that we are told to trust. I think it's all about the election and keeping the economy from coming back, which is about the election. I'm sick of it.
The very next day, after presumably having an interaction or two with a loved one, he tweeted this:
To further clarify and add perspective, COVID-19 is real and it is here … My son tested positive for the virus, and I feel for those suffering and especially for those who have lost loved ones.
While this isn’t a direct refutation of the former tweet, its shift in tone suggests a reconsideration of its previous merits. In a later response, Woolery claimed that he never used the word “hoax” or said the disease was fake, but his previous tweets appeared to communicate otherwise.
Possible Preaching Angle:
When we speak carelessly about grave matters of life and death, we endanger ourselves and those we love.
