Learning from Master Preacher John Stott
You'll notice that the great English expositor John Stott is featured in two areas of our site this week, and that's because he is celebrating his 90th birthday. His sermon The Greatest Invitation Ever Made is an example of the clear exposition for which he is well known and from which we all can learn. His article A Definition of Biblical Preaching, will challenge you to pursue with renewed diligence the high call of preaching that is true to Scripture. My guess is that this sermon and article will leave you grateful once again that God has favored you by calling you to teach and proclaim his Word.
Is it too early to suggest a sermon series for Easter season 2012? I just concluded a four-week series on the four Servant Songs and their postludes in Isaiah 42, 49, 50, and 52:13 - 53:12, with the final message coming on Easter Sunday. The series focused our hearts on Christ in a powerful, fresh way. The feedback from the congregation has been enthusiastic. I count this as one of the most rewarding series I have ever preached.
