"I believe the Church has a moral obligation to press into the growing tragedy of slavery of all sorts, particularly the horrors of sex trafficking." That's part of the backstory to R. York Moore's sermon on modern-day slavery. Moore, the national evangelist for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship USA, urges us to allow God to break our hearts over the hideous travesty of sex trafficking. But he also adds, "In dealing with the unthinkable emerging realities of modern-day slavery, we need our orange-clad liberator, the one who is literally clothed in fire and cloud, to give us hope for tomorrow …. A Jesus that merely identifies with our pain and suffering is insufficient. He is also the True Liberator who has real solutions for the injustices of our time."
Also, watch for upcoming sermons in our "Handling Hot Preaching Topics" series. We'll be posting sermons and interviewing pastors on preaching on some of today's most difficult social issues, including racism, immigration, divorce, sexual immorality, and celibacy/singleness.
