Does Your Sunday Connect to Their Monday?
Most of your best church members spend more time thinking about their jobs than church activities. As a matter of fact, the average person spends 90,000 hours at work over their lifetime. So how are you helping your people understand this important role? How does your Sunday sermon connect with how people live Monday through Saturday? We're passionate about giving you preaching resources so you can equip your people with a gospel-centered view of work. This week Dr. Scott M. Gibson delves into the "6 Problems of Preaching on Faith and Work." (He also offers six action points for these preaching problems).
And in his excellent sermon—"Loving Our Work"—David Kim from Redeemer Presbyterian convincingly shows how the gospel changes everything, including our work. David argues, "[The gospel] changes the way you see all of your life from Monday through Sunday, and it begins to help you understand how big the gospel is and the expanse of God's heart." He uses Isaiah and Revelation to show that through the work of Christ, God the Father is "not only redeeming us in our hearts as individuals; he is also redeeming the work that we do and the things that are being done in the world." This sermon provides a solid biblical foundation (and some great illustrations too) for your own preaching on faith and work issues.
