Preaching as Diverse as the World Cup
This week we're kicking off (pun intended) a new sermon series called "Global Preaching Voices." Like the World Cup, this series has a true global perspective. We're offering nine sermons that highlight the excellent, expository preaching coming out of Asia, Africa, and South America. You and these preachers (just like all the World Cup teams) play the same "game," adhere to the same rules, and share the same passion. We hope this summer series will challenge your faith and stretch your perspectives on preaching.
Ajith Fernando, a Christian leader from Sri Lanka, once said, "[As a young Christian] at times the need to preach became so intense that I would go down to the beach and preach to the ocean." You'll catch his passion for preaching in his sermon on Jonah—"How to Look at People with God's Eyes."
I hope you can join me this September at Gordon-Conwell's 2014 National Preaching Conference—"Faithful to the Call." I'll be leading the workshop "Life by Preaching: 5 Practices that Revive a Preacher's Soul." There's also an incredible lineup of plenary speakers: Bryan Chapell, Bryan Loritts, Derek Tidball, and Gordon-Conwell's own Carol Kaminski and Matthew Kim. The conference also offers a wide selection of workshops to help you keep growing as a preacher to the glory of God.
This week to help you in your preaching efforts we offer the following:
- Featured Sermon: "How to Look at People with God's Eyes" by Ajith Fernando
- New Skills Article: "Passionate for God or Addicted to Mediocrity?" by Ajith Fernando
