Take Your Sermon Planning the Next Mile

Bill

What are you preaching this year? What should you preach this year, and the next year? In this week's skills article—"Plan Your Preaching"—Bryan Wilkerson claims that that's the wrong question. Instead, it's better to ask, "Where do we want to go this year?" Planning your preaching, like planning a road trip, includes the following steps—choosing your destination, mapping the route, packing your bags, making mid-trip corrections, and arriving at your destination. Bryan maps out a creative and helpful approach to planning your next chunk of sermon series.

This week we also offer another sermon in the series that Bill Hybels claims took him 40 years to write. In this week's sermon—"Simplify: Part 2"—Hybels explains how to expunge these three words from your church's and your personal vocabulary: OVERWHELMED, OVERSCHEDULED, and EXHAUSTED. You can read Bill's first sermon here—"Simplify: Part 1," and then check out the new Tyndale book based on Bill's sermon series—Simplify—and Tyndale's collection of free church/preaching resources.
