Jesus' Final Week—We Were There
This week we offer two preaching resources by Dr. Joel C. Gregory. In his sermon "The Final Week—Were You There?" Dr. Gregory contrasts "the agitated selfish confusion of Caiaphas" with the "composed majestic silence of the Christ." This sermon focuses on one haunting idea: we may have much more in common with Caiaphas than we'd ever dare to admit. And in Dr. Gregory's sermon "Resurrection Realities," he exegetes John 20:11-18 as he explores what happens when the power of Christ's resurrection explodes in a human life.
Continuing with our special "Dr. Joel C. Gregory week," we also offer his fantastic foundational article on how to illustrate your sermon. We call it Dr. Gregory's "Essential guide to sermon illustrations—why they matter, what makes them work, and how to make them stick." It's the final installment in our new nine-step process for weekly sermon prep.
On a personal note, we hope and pray that you will thrive through this Holy Season of the church year. May the Word of God go forth from your life, your words, and your congregation with great power as you remember Jesus' death and celebrate his resurrection.
