Tim Keller: Make Your Outline Move
"Your outline has to have movement, progression, tension"—so writes Tim Keller. Honestly, I've never considered how my outline can have movement that leads to a story. This week's preaching skills article—"The Movement of the Sermon"—is classic Keller—wise, gospel-grounded, practical. Keller offers one way to make "the underlying movement of your sermon" have what he calls "a gospel shape" or a "fall-redemption-restoration plotline." We're pleased to offer this fine excerpt from Keller's new book on preaching.
Christmas preaching, already? Yep, it's coming. This creative sermon by Daniel Fusco provides some fresh ideas for preaching on the "Christmas Threes." Yes, that's threes not trees—as in the three kinds of people in the biblical Christmas stories, the three types of revelation, and the three offices of Jesus revealed in the birth narratives of the Gospels. You also might get an idea for a sermon series in here as well.
