The Worst Character in the Gospels
In some ways he's the most shocking character in all four Gospels. He could be the worst sinner in all four accounts of Jesus' death. His name is Judas. Why did he betray the Lord of Lord and King of Kings? In this week's featured sermon—"The Empty Niche"—Dan Meyer walks us through three very real possibilities—perks, power, and piety. It's possible, Meyer claims, to wake up and realize we've "subtly sold our soul to maintain passing perks, vain power, and superficial piety." Jesus offers a better way.
What happens when a cop from the inner city of Baltimore becomes a preacher? For one thing, you get a unique perspective for preaching on race. In this week's skills article—"Preaching on Race: Why We Can't Wait (Part 2)—former Baltimore cop and current Long Island preacher Joshua Aaron Moody offers some deeply personal and profound thoughts about why and how he preached on racial issues.
