Are God and Allah the Same?
Zip code 60187 (nice little Wheaton, Illinois) doesn't make it into national and international news that often. But this past month Wheaton College hit the front page of media outlets around the globe because of this question: Do Muslims and Christians worship the same God? Kevin Miller, Teaching Pastor of Church of the Resurrection in Wheaton, the center of the storm, felt led by God to plunge into the controversy. He had a simple two-point outline—Get Clarity on the Issue, Live with Charity Towards Muslims and Fellow-believers. Read his sermon here.
His sermon led me to explore a broader question: When and how should you preach on controversial topics, especially when they affect your community? So in this week's skills article, I explore with Kevin how preaching on a divisive issue impacts your sermon prep, your outline, your delivery—just about everything. Check out Kevin's practical and honest advice.
