How to Preach to Millennials
I love offering articles that challenge, inform, and stretch my approach to preaching. That's one reason why I'm excited to share this practical and inspiring, article from a British millennial (she's 27 years old) who is actively sharing the gospel with her peers. So check out "Preaching to Unchurched Millennials" by Miriam Swaffield. It's chock-full of great advice, like this: "However shiny and branded your church is, however Twitter-friendly your preaching is, if you aren't a real person with vulnerability and courage on display for us to access and make friends with, then we can only follow so far."
Then check out this fine sermon from Matt Chandler about how Jesus is always "More Than Meets the Eye." I appreciate the way Chandler weaves together two seemingly disconnected texts—Jesus in the temple from Luke 2 and Jesus the Exalted Lord of the Cosmos from Colossians 1. But beyond the great exegesis and illustrations, I hope you read this sermon to capture Matt's passion for his people. This is urgent, heartfelt, loving, challenging pastoral preaching at its best. You can hear and feel the passion of a pastor for his people all the way through this sermon. Read and learn. Read and be stirred.
