The Stories that Converge on Easter
Now this is a novel text for an Easter morning sermon—Mark 1:1. Yeah, that's right: the first verse of the second gospel account of Jesus. But in this week's featured sermon, John Mark Comer pulls it off by showing that three major roads lead right to Jesus' resurrection—Eden, Israel, and Rome. As Comer writes, "These three storylines run all the way through Mark. But what does any of this have to do with Easter? Everything. In Mark 16, it's at Easter that all three storylines reach a dramatic climax." This is a fascinating, fresh, and richly theological approach to preaching on Easter.
Last week, we featured Dr. Joel Gregory's fabulous skills article, "Ten Angles for Preaching on Christ's Death." This week, Dr. Gregory shares his wisdom and experience about preaching on the resurrection of Christ. This time, he offers a blend of six ways to approach the Resurrection in your upcoming Easter sermon. Let Dr. Gregory stir your imagination.
