Messing with the Wrong Daddy
Hyundai had four commercials during the 2016 Super Bowl, but their best one was titled "First Date" and starred comedian Kevin Hart. A young man comes to the Hart household to pick up Kevin's daughter, and Hart insists they take his car. The young man doesn't know that Hart installed a tracking feature so he can follow along on the date. So, Hart tracks them to the movie theater sitting two rows behind them, and then to carnival, hiding behind a stuffed bunny. Finally, as they park on an overlook and the young man tries to give the young woman a kiss, Kevin Hart comes flying in on a helicopter and yells "You're messing with the wrong daddy!"
Possible Preaching Angles:
It's a hilarious commercial that has a couple of preaching angles. Is Hart a model for the loving protection of a good father? Or is Hart a creepy, overprotective helicopter parent who shows us our need for God's perfect love? After watching this dad try so hard, isn't it nice to know that our heavenly Father's omniscience—his presence in every aspect of our lives—is totally different?
